OMYPA Hosts Lunch & Learns at the Home Office
The Owens & Minor Young Professionals Alliance (OMYPA) aims to cultivate a collaborative environment for a diverse group of young professionals to engage and thrive at Owens & Minor. This group, established in 2013, hopes to bridge any generational gaps and help proliferate our strong corporate culture. OMYPA encourages all teammates to attend events planned by the group to maximize varying perspectives and experiences.
In the past year, OMYPA members have acted as allies for the summer interns, toured Medical Action in Williamsburg, represented Owens & Minor in the Richmond Corporate Games to benefit Special Olympics, and held a Thanksgiving Canned Food Drive. However, Home Office teammates may know OMYPA best for facilitating recent Lunch & Learns. In these engaging sessions, one team leader shares insight about their initiatives and takes questions from the audience at the end or throughout the hour-long talk. The Lunch & Learns serve as a platform for teammates to engage with company leaders and to learn more about another team’s progress towards our goals.
On February 3, Javara Perrilliat, Operating VP, Strategic Supply Management, shared goals for his team, as well as our xx* growth strategy. Additionally, he reiterated the elements of our Transformation Agenda and shared a few words of advice about the importance of mentorship.
“Javara did a great job explaining how our private label and indirect spend play an important role in the Company’s overall profitability,” said Ashley Land, Senior Financial Analyst serving the California Region and OMYPA Treasurer. “I gained a deeper understanding of our Transformation Agenda in action because he linked everything back to the four elements.”
“Our goal with the Lunch & Learns is to engage teammates and enhance understanding within the Company,” said LiLi Pham, Field Contract & Pricing Analyst—Tenet and OMYPA Secretary. “We hope teammates have enjoyed the sessions, and we look forward to hosting more in the coming months. If there are any topics you would like to learn about through future Lunch & Learns, please let us know!”
OMYPA would like to thank Randy Meier, Robert Snead, and Javara Perrilliat for graciously speaking at these events.
